Each year, the Board of Directors of the Papio-Missouri River NRD reviews all NRD program and project activities and determines a budget necessary to carry out our mission. NRDs in Nebraska possess limited taxing authority amounting to less than two percent of property taxes collected within our NRD area.

FY 2008 Budget Fact Sheets

At its August 9, 2007 meeting, the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District Board approved a proposed FY 2008 General Operating Budget. A portion of the board meeting was devoted to a public hearing on the budget.

The Fiscal Year 2008 Budget calls for a property tax levy of .034848. The FY 2007 levy was .038444. The .034848 levy would mean that the owner of property valued at $100,000 would pay a total of $34.84 in property taxes this year to support various NRD projects and programs compared to $38.44 last year.

The draft budget calls for total estimated expenditures of $44.19 million. Of this amount, an estimated $16.4 million in revenue would come from property taxes. The remainder of revenue will be received through State of Nebraska and federal funding for projects, and special assessments.
