The Papio-Missouri River NRD has made a strong commitment to its citizens - protecting ground and surface water, slowing the effects of soil erosion, reducing flood threats, creating and protecting wildlife habitat, planting trees and introducing our children to the necessity of living in harmony with our natural world.
Once primarily a rural oriented agency, the Papio-Missouri River NRD has grown to appreciate and meet all natural resources challenges whether they be on our farms or in our cities and towns.
Below is a list of the major activities we undertake in an effort to meet these challenges.
The NRD is an active partner with the City of Omaha and Omaha By Design for much-needed streambank improvements to Cole Creek in Omaha. Visit www.colecreek.org for more information.
Streambank erosion is a significant problem in and around the Omaha Metro area. In Sarpy County, a major improvement is underway to stabilize Whitted Creek near 25th St in Bellevue. Partnering with the NRD are the NE Dept of Environmental Quality and the Nebraska Environmental Trust. Click here for more project information.
Below are links to organizations that partner with the NRD to preserve Urban Water Quality in our resources district.
