Overview

Location

The Platte River Bridge Trail project will bring a new paved pedestrian trail along the east side of U.S. Highway 34/75 (US-34/75) in Cass and Sarpy counties, starting at Beach Road and running north along the east side of the US-34/75 bridge to the Papio-Missouri River levee.

Purpose and Need

Currently, there is no recreation connection in the area, with the closest bicycle and pedestrian bridge located more than 15 miles away. This project will provide much-needed connectivity across the Platte River along U.S. Highway 34/75.

Scope of Work

This project will include:

  • A 10-foot-wide trail north and south of the bridge
  • A 12-foot-wide paved trail on the east side of the bridge
  • New trail abutments on the north and south sides of the Platte River
  • A new culvert extension and grate inlets
  • A new railing and covered observation decks on the east side
  • Fencing between the trail and US-34/75
  • Construction of a new sediment basin to replace the existing one

Project Schedule

The proposed project, which is currently in the preliminary phase, is expected to begin in 2022. For more details, download our fact sheet.
