One of the most common owls found in eastern Nebraska is the Barred Owl!  This Barred Owl Box provides a perfect cavity to nest in.  Due to their nocturnal nature, it’s not common to see a Barred Owl but they can be heard calling throughout the day!  Listen for a very distinct call that sounds like “Who cooks for you, who cooks for y’all?”.  They prefer dense forest habitat and make for great neighbors as they provide free pest control- eating several rodents a night!  Links below give an excellent Barred Owl profile and other interesting facts about owls in Nebraska!
