Picking and enjoying a perfectly ripe mulberry is a favorite summer past time for many Nebraskans!  Two species of Mulberry trees can be found in Nebraska, though only the red variant is native.  They are often found near woodland edges but can do well in urban environments such as backyards or even next to a sidewalk!  Mulberries make an excellent pie filling, topping on desserts, and for many, a delicious treat to enjoy along the hike.  An abundance of wildlife find the mulberries make a tasty snack as well, including a large number of birds and a variety of small mammals!  To learn more about mulberry trees in Nebraska and great mulberry recipes, check out the links below!
