The state tree of Nebraska! These trees can be found statewide, preferring moist, well-drained soils near streams, rivers, and lakes. They tend to stand tall among the canopy, sometimes reaching heights of 100’. In Southeast Nebraska, a Cottonwood was crowned National Champion as the largest Cottonwood Tree in the United States! Cottonwoods are fast growing, resilient trees offering ample amounts of shade with their wide canopies.
