Today we shine the spotlight on Kaden Kneifl, a field representative in our Dakota City Field Office.
Where did you grow up?
I’m originally from Hartington for the first 10 years of my life, but then my family moved to Wayne where I graduated from high school.
What does your job entail (job duties and how does your work impact the public)?
As a Field Representative, I dedicate my time helping landowners and operators learn about Papio NRD practices that we have to offer. I make sure that landowners are aware of the cost share programs we offer to assist in their projects.
What’s the most unique thing in your office or on your desk right now?
A hydroponics system.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work (hobbies, volunteering, etc.)?
I enjoy making time to do woodworking or any hunting/fishing activities. Pretty much anything outdoors with nature I enjoy.
What educational background or experience do you bring to your new role (degree(s), coursework, skills learned, etc.)?
After graduating from Wayne High School, I went to college in Brookings, South Dakota at SDSU for a bachelor’s in wildlife and fisheries sciences (2019-2022). During my time in Brookings, I had many opportunities to be a part of some clubs and travel with those clubs learning about wildlife and many other great things in the great outdoors. After college I worked for my brother’s tree service business for a couple months then took on a job working for the Nebraska Game and Parks in Crofton at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area for a year. Quickly after my year with Game and Parks I accepted the job as a Field Representative with the Papio-Missouri River NRD.
Is there family, significant other, or furry friend information you’d like to share?
I have a dog that is half Husky and half Australian Shepherd. His name is Kenai, and he is so unique with his brown and white crème colors.
What is your favorite band(s)?
Growing up it was always Keith Urban or Maroon 5, but now I listen to all music and genres.
